Federal Roundup judge calls class action settlement filthy and mindboggling

So Amanda Bronstad reports at Law.com in Federal Roundup Judge Refuses to Step Into ‘Mind-Boggling’ $7.25B Class Settlement. Excerpt:

[Judge] Chhabria said, “You have a meeting with the judge on the day you filed it, a prearranged meeting with the judge on the day you filed it. You say it was in open court, but it was not transcribed and nobody was aware this was happening. And there’s no hearing at which anybody has an opportunity to discuss with the judge these concerns that all these people are raising now, and the judge preliminary approves the settlement that all of a sudden imposes significant obligations on people all over the country, including people who don’t have NHL or maybe not heard of Roundup, and he did that without giving the other side the opportunity to be heard?”

“I’m not pushing back on any suggestion by you about how this was done,” [class counsel] Seeger replied.

I wonder what impact, if any, Judge Chhabria’s remarks will have on the Missouri case. We have previously reported on this here and here. Disclosure: I joined an amicus brief criticizing the settlement.
